While the Brainard Lake Recreation Area is a bit of a drive from the nearest city, Boulder, its well worth it for the views and access to high mountain lakes. From snow thaw to early winter, the road allows you to drive up past Rock Lake. In the winter months, there is a lower parking lot, from which you can access the lakes via a snow packed trail. Both Brainard Lake & Rock Lake are great places to shoot your engagement photos. They aren’t too far of a hike, but give you that those true Rocky Mountain backdrops.
