Bobby & Jennifer’s Asheville Overlook Wedding

Nearly a year ago, when we met Bobby & Jennifer for their engagement session in Summit County, we finished up the session talking about photo options for their Arapahoe Basin Wedding. Little did we know that they would end up getting married, on top of a mountain, in Asheville, North Carolina… but even that nearly didn’t happen.

This past May, we got an email from Jennifer saying they had switched their plans to a smaller, more intimate wedding with Covid in mind, but still wanted us to be there to document. In downsizing their guest list, they were able to ramp up some of other aspects, from the decor, food and all of the best Asheville wedding vendors.

Jenn started off the morning getting ready in the most awesome tree house while Bobby was at a nearby Airbnb with his closest friends. After a glass of champagne and a few craft beers, it was time for everyone to make their way up to the mountaintop. By this time, the rain had started, but it wasn’t a worry. It always rains in Asheville. But not like this. After arriving up top and unpacking my gear, Bobby sent a text that said “The groomsmen are in their underwear pushing the van up the hill.”

After pushing until they couldn’t push no more, the tow truck was called and Bobby hiked, with his groomsmen the rest of the way in. Jenn, still a mile down the mountain, without skipping a beat, took off her shoes and began trekking up the muddy road to go find her groom. On a few occasions, Stacy had to ask Jenn to slow down, just so she could keep up.

Nothing was going to stop these two from getting married.

Several hours later, the only SUV that could make the drive, dropped off the last few family members. It was time. The sun had already set, but the silhouetted Blue Ridge Mountains in the background provided the perfect backdrop. The night went off perfectly with some heartfelt speeches and a first dance to remember.

We left Bobby & Jennifer’s wedding with a full heart as we were beyond moved by the character and resilience of these two. Through it all, love prevailed. We are so thankful for their friendship and cannot wait till they come back out to visit us in Colorado.
