Telluride Wedding Venues

« Back to Colorado Wedding Venues

Often referred to as the Switzerland of America, Telluride is by far our favorite mountain town with some of our favorite wedding venues. Between the town of Telluride and Mountain Village, there are endless activities, places to eat and things to see. There truly is something about Telluride that makes it a magical place for all walks of life.

When you hear the word Telluride, you might think expensive or luxurious. Fortunately, when it comes to weddings or just visiting, there are expensive and affordable options for wedding venues and lodging. The town of Telluride has done a fantastic job at staying true to its roots. Just over the mountain, at Mountain Village, is a different story. With development starting in 1995, the ‘village’ has blown up into a full blown ski resort megaplex. We’re not shaming it, and if anything, we’re so glad the town of Telluride and Mountain Village feel like different locales. The free gondola connects the best of both worlds. If you’re looking for a more down-to-earth locals vibe, do your best to stay in town. If you are looking for luxurious resort & spa treatment, look at Mountain Village.

As for wedding venues, the best ceremony location hands down is the San Sophia Overlook. As for a budget friendly reception, Mountain Lodge checks all the boxes with the smallest price tag. If you want to go full send, Allred’s is unlike any other, but our personal favorite is Gorrono Ranch, which sits perfectly in between the both in regards to price and actual location.

Our Favorite Pre-Wedding Activities

  • Bridal Veil Falls – Starting from the public parking lot, this short hike has an epic finish at the tallest free-falling waterfall in Colorado. While short, only 1.8 miles, it is quite steep and not great for beginners or little ones. Our kids did it, 3 and 6, but we carried Ruby for at least half of the uphill portion.
  • Valley Floor Bike Trail – Rent bikes in-town and ride the 8 mile loop. The elevation gain is minimal so most anyone can do it. It’ll give your guests of what mountain biking is all about without any serious downhill wreck possibilities.
  • Trout Lake – Just a short drive out to the south of town, this lake has fishing and access to several nearby hikes. If your guests want to camp, there are several disbursed camping areas and campgrounds nearby.
  • Telluride Park – We usually always end up at the town park every time we visit Telluride. Between the fishing pond, skate park, swimming pool, sand volleyball court and pickleball court, it has just about every activity you can imagine. It’s a great meetup place for those looking for something active.

How to Get to Telluride

Flying in to Denver will give you a 6 hour drive, so our suggestion is to check Southwest, United or American flights to Montrose (MTJ) or Grand Junction (GJT). While the town of Telluride has an airport, it only services a smaller airline with higher ticket prices. With that said, if you do decide to make the long drive, it is scenic. We suggest stopping in Ridgeway to breakup the trip.

    Mountain Lodge

Telluride Wedding Venues are by far our favorite places to photograph at. The surrounding area really doesn’t have as many venues as say Vail, so your choices are a bit limited. The Mountain Lodge is our top choice for a medium sized wedding that doesn’t break the bank. If you’ve ever been to Telluride, you’ll […]
